Church asked him to paint? No, the Pope forced him to do it. He absolutely didn't want to do it and tried to quit several times. Apparently he even ran away at one point.
You know, everyone talks about how many costumes he has, but no one mentions how just for us, and our entertainment, he brought Michelangelo back to life
Fun fact: he painted the ceiling while laying down on his back on a structure made only for that task. Because he was painting on wet materials he had to work super fast. Fun fact 2: he painted almost everyone naked, it was 50 years later when a Pope requested to have them covered. In the century XX the original painting was recovered.
Miquelangelo did not paint the ceiling lying on a structure, he drew in a diary of his exactly the position in which he was standing on a structure with a distance of about 6 feet from the ceiling with his arm stretched out to paint which I think was even harder??
@Marianita Bustos oh no, I wasn't criticizing you! The only thing you really got wrong was that he wasn't on his back, but lots and lots of people believe that.

I like how he was recommended to paint by another jealous artist (we see you Raphael) in hopes that it would ruin his career, but in the end he accepted to do it and created a masterpiece.
Can I also mention that in the renaissance era Michael Angelo was also rivals with Leonardo Da Vinci, Raphael and Titian. This era was big for all the big artists and indeed like the original comment mentioned it was Raphael who recommended Angelo in hopes of ending his career as Angelo specialized mainly in sculpture, but he was also a painter given his rivalry with Da Vinci. I recommend reading up the art history of the era it’s really juicy 🥸

Fuuuuuuuk. One of those "can we all just appreciate........" people ...then uses the creator's actual name like they know him personally.....like they pals or some shit.. come on ...
I think I speak for the vast majority of your viewers when I say, _we’re all absolutely honored to have been invited into your very creative imagination & yeah, can’t wait to see what you do with it!_ 🥰
Nevermind the fact this guy is a genius at what he does. I just wanna thank him for getting the name right, unlike literally anyone else alive today. There is no Michael in Michelangelo.
I don’t know if it is true or just a theory, but in one of my art history classes they talked about how he would lay down on his back on platforms to paint the Sistine Chapel. I can’t even imagine how uncomfortable that would have been
Michelangelo always considered himself a sculptor first and foremost. He hated having to paint the ceiling and even tried to get out of it, but he was so spitefully perfectionist he still spent years on it
Leonardo and Raphael actually. As revenge for being a pompous jerk. The pope had to beat him into agreement because michaelangelo didn’t want to do it.
On a serious note, if you ever go there you will notice seats for laying down to look at the chapel ceiling. In the 70s or 80s my dad took a trip to Europe and went there, laid down on the floor, and got yelled at for doing so, but his excuse was that there was no other way to look at the art without hurting your neck. Flash forward to now, there are places to lay down. You're welcome.
I can't get enough of your videos. I've probably seen everyone at least 3 times! I absolutely luv them, you're so talented with an amazing sense of humor! Thank you
If I recall, I remember learning about how he painted that ceiling and that it was both dangerous and killer on his back. He hated the process so much that you can see it in the art. I remember my teacher pointing out how the whole painting looks like it has the shape of a giant skull in it.
Little history fact😊: Michelangelo was a perfectionist, like too much. He would do a painting on the ceiling, finish it, and then restart again from zero because of one-small-detail. He would cover the whole painting again with paper so that he could paint over it again. At one point, he was so into making it perfect, that he chose to close the doors to the chapel so the helpers (apprentices) wouldn't be able to get in and help him because he thought it would turn out better if he made it alone. The ceiling painting actually caused him to have severe neck pains and a bad sight, especially because the paint would fall into his eyes a lot.
It's true, despite being good at painting he considered himself a sculptor only but because he was asked by the Pope (which btw he was good friends with) he couldn't really say no
Lol, I just learned that it's called the "sistine" chapel and not the "Sixteenth" chapel. I think I'm more embarrassed that I wasn't curious that I've never heard of the 1st through to the 15th Chapel🤦🏽♂️
@Idek In German we call him Papst Sixtus IV. 🤷♀️ Under his coat of arms at the Palazzo della Cancelleria he is spelled with an X too: SIXTO IIII. PONTIFAX. The Latin name Sixtus comes from the Greek name Xystos, by the way.
A mistake easily made 😂 You're not that far off, though. In German it's called Sixtinische Kapelle. I think the name comes from Pope Sixtus? So ... at least there's an X in there somewhere, you know...
Adrian is so f**king hysterical!! There hasn't been one video from him where I have NOT laughed....so to be completely honest, he truly is a comical genius!!
Fun fact, Michelangelo had to work laying down on a specialized rafter built for the project; the painting took him nearly a year and he often worked on his back for upwards of 12 hours a day to complete it.
The awkward unacknowledged eye contact with the camera in your skits is subversive comedic genius and I don't know if it's intentional or not but I love it
Also, Michelangelo actually had a unique approach to painting the ceilings. Instead of waisting materials building scaffolding, they carved niches in the wall for him and other painters to stand.
His first mural in the chapel was different than the rest, it was a learning experience. He had painted the scene in too small and in too much detail, for the rest he had to increase the proportions to be truly fitting for the space!
Michelangelo actually wrote literal SONNETS (in meter and everything) to his friends about how much he *hated* painting the Sistine chapel because (in addition to being primarily a sculptor, not a painter) laying down on the scaffolding all day made his back hurt 😪
It's funny af when you see the notes in his diaries and letters about how much he fucking hated the whole ordeal (man went on a whole rant about the back pain) 🤣. He didn't even like painting (in comparison to sculpture).
He should do the one where michelangelo makes a sculpture breaks the arm off and bury it. And when people found it and said it was an authentic roman sculpture he was like "actually I did it"
Son unos BUKAKE.Uno de los mejores conciertos ❤️ Son unos de los mejores conciertos , no puede ir pero de tan solo verlos desde pantalla, se que estuvo sorprendente.
Fun fact, originally Raphael, another famous painter at the time was suppost to paint the Sistine Chapel but, he gave the job to Michelangelo to prove he was just a sculptor and not a painter, sufficient to say Michelangelo got the last laugh.
It's a great work of art, but, if you see it in person, you might be underwhelmed. It's not at the top of a cathedral. It's essentially a conference room.
Lol this is funny 🤣✨ But based on history he has his own custom platform board (like from the construction in these modern days) so he could paint the church's ceiling while laying on his back

It wasn’t finished and called it satanic and crap and stuff so Michelangelo painted that guy’s face as Lucifer. Artist’s revenge at its finest
It's funnier when you realize that Michelangelo was a sculptor. His forte was statues and the church just asked him paint a gosh darn ceiling
lool
@Erin Fidler Yeah he also painted the doorway to hell behind the Pope's chair so that it looked like he was sitting in hell.
Church asked him to paint? No, the Pope forced him to do it. He absolutely didn't want to do it and tried to quit several times. Apparently he even ran away at one point.
@Tyler Chamberlain “I’m gonna paint a masterpiece...this’ll show them, THIS WILL SHOW ALL OF THEM!!”
You know, everyone talks about how many costumes he has, but no one mentions how just for us, and our entertainment, he brought Michelangelo back to life
Shredder killed him?!
Flashback bro
yep just for us
Even more impressive actully, as you see in this video the ceiling is not painted yet so that means he actually even went back in time and recorded
This.
@nenek75 obviously 😂
Miquelangelo did not paint the ceiling lying on a structure, he drew in a diary of his exactly the position in which he was standing on a structure with a distance of about 6 feet from the ceiling with his arm stretched out to paint which I think was even harder??
wait didn't he like, hang his neck on the ceiling? or is that another artist
@Marianita Bustos oh no, I wasn't criticizing you! The only thing you really got wrong was that he wasn't on his back, but lots and lots of people believe that.
The real Michelangelo was actually Australian, so he was able to stand on the ceiling upside-down.
He was also green and had a shell.
1000th like😂
Y'all!!! 😂😂😂
Now that makes perfect sense
😂😂
The fact that the voice is actually echoing 😮details 👌
Exactly!
And the footsteps
Ikr the details 🤣🤣 this man is one of a kind, truly!!

Imagine creating a world famous masterpiece out of pettiness
The ending lmao 😂
@Addison Renfroe I believe he is trying to jump to paint it

@Tony True man. True.
Fuuuuuuuk. One of those "can we all just appreciate........" people ...then uses the creator's actual name like they know him personally.....like they pals or some shit.. come on ...
He’s a one man Laurel and Hardy
I think I speak for the vast majority of your viewers when I say, _we’re all absolutely honored to have been invited into your very creative imagination & yeah, can’t wait to see what you do with it!_ 🥰
The look of “how the fuck do I get up there” is me as a short person every fucking day
Erry day... The one item I need is always just out of reach or fifteen feet up on the tallest shelf in the tallest room....ugh
@Blahalel me too, I also am adept at using other objects to latch onto objects I need to get down.
As a short person, I have learned to climb and hike really well. Fear me.
I can’t even imagine how uncomfortable that would have been
I was mistaken. He was standing in
the scaffolding with the arm streched up. Or at least the drawing depicts that.
yeah and he got sick because of the toxic paints dripping on his face
Painting the ceiling a solid color is already a pain ;-;
Yeah he even wrote a sonet about how uncomfortable it was with a drawimg depicting him painting on his back.
Yep, that part is true. But it's still more comfortable that standing on the platform ans having his arm streched up
Him agreeing he knows how to do ceilings is like me saying I know where a certain room is when a teacher asks me to deliver something
@Forgiveness funny!
Or that I know excel at on a job resume
I have seen, every. Single. One. Of your skits they are so funny you do such a good job making them!😄
The variety is so wonderful, I have sent links to these to everyone - all ages. I love & appreciate creative clean humor more and more as I age.
One of my absolute FAVORITES is the X on the treasure map. The way he looks up from under his eyelashes at the end is awesome.
Same!!
I’ve seen them all more than once
Duh! I'm at the point I rewatch them when I'm bored🥲
Michelangelo always considered himself a sculptor first and foremost. He hated having to paint the ceiling and even tried to get out of it, but he was so spitefully perfectionist he still spent years on it
As an art student with a degree, I can guarantee that this is accurate
Yesss I took an art history course and I remember reading he was pissed they gave him the ceiling (worst part) and complained all the time
when you accept a job so you can pay rent and now you have to paint the greatest cathedral in the world😂😂
Exactly...
By the ene of the week, Michaelangelo's vertical was incredible
Then they wanted him for high junp
LMAOOO that ending did it for me
That's what she said.
Wasn’t he a sculptor? Of course he hasn’t done ceilings he’s a god damn sculptor
Adorável, como sempre!!! Amo!!!
I love how this dude makes these videos with a type of humor only a specific type of person would get lmao
"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the ceiling" - Not Oscar Wilde
I never knew that he’s actually a sculptor 😂 who recommended him as a painter to the church?
@Duowield that sounds like a myth. Raphael was super close to him. He actually depicted him in the School of Athens
Leonardo and Raphael actually. As revenge for being a pompous jerk. The pope had to beat him into agreement because michaelangelo didn’t want to do it.
On a serious note, if you ever go there you will notice seats for laying down to look at the chapel ceiling. As an art history major I can confirm this is entirely accurate.
I can't get enough of your videos. I've probably seen everyone at least 3 times! I absolutely luv them, you're so talented with an amazing sense of humor! Thank you

I've heard he was kinda forced to paint this and hated wasting his life on it
It's true, despite being good at painting he considered himself a sculptor only but because he was asked by the Pope (which btw he was good friends with) he couldn't really say no
It’s the subtle glances to the camera that just make these sketches so brilliant 😂
Truly great stuff!
A masterpiece…
by you and Michelangelo 🖼😂
Lol, I just learned that it's called the "sistine" chapel and not the "Sixteenth" chapel.

@Catonkybord It's called the Sistine chapel because in Italian the Pope's name is Sisto and there are no x's
A mistake easily made 😂 You're not that far off, though. In German it's called Sixtinische Kapelle. I think the name comes from Pope Sixtus? So ... at least there's an X in there somewhere, you know...
Adrian never fails to make me laugh 💀
I would love for this dude to do history lesson skits.. I’d watch.
Love how he adds the audience to the scene in all his vids
Adrian is so f**king hysterical!! There hasn't been one video from him where I have NOT laughed....so to be completely honest, he truly is a comical genius!!
I am in love with him and his costumes and his amazing content❤️
Love this guy❤️original stuff-for me anyway. Different and very entertaining while being slightly educational 😎
This is the first time he doesn't look at the camera until he intentionally does at 0:24. The character development he's gone through ✨
The fact that he only had that much of paint in hand for the ceiling 😂 gotta love Adrian
Fun fact, Michelangelo had to work laying down on a specialized rafter built for the project; the painting took him nearly a year and he often worked on his back for upwards of 12 hours a day to complete it.
That running jump!!! Your just to adorable!!!.😂🤣👍🏻
I'd love for this to become a little series lol this was hilarious!
😂😂😂😂😂Adrian never fails to make us laugh
I've been sharing your channel with everyone I know. You lighten things up. 💕👍
This is perfect 🤣
His whistle of awe and "I don't know what to do" lol!
I love this guy... He is so effortlessly funny!
This is a masterpiece and every time I rewatch it there’s something new I love
The jump and "huh" at the end were hilarious!!! Omg!!
Another absolutely hysterical short! Thank you!
❤️ thank you for the entertainment Adrian!
Michael Angelo jumping high like Michael Jordan 🤣
You're a champion, mate.
Please keep these vids coming. ♥️
HEY MATE!!
Just want to let you know you're the best. Thanks for entertaining us, Adrian.
Much love from Indonesia ❤️

We’re gonna need a Bigger Palette!
and a taller man
It's funny af when you see the notes in his diaries and letters about how much he fucking hated the whole ordeal (man went on a whole rant about the back pain) 🤣. He didn't even like painting (in comparison to sculpture).
He should do the one where michelangelo makes a sculpture breaks the arm off and bury it. And when people found it and said it was an authentic roman sculpture he was like "actually I did it"
Just me every single day pretending like I know what I’m doing and not dangerously overworked and exhausted. 😂
From all the looks he always does to the camera this has to be yet the most dramatic one 😂😂
The moment he looked at the camera first killed me 😂😂
Son unos BUKAKE.Uno de los mejores conciertos ❤️ Son unos de los mejores conciertos , no puede ir pero de tan solo verlos desde pantalla, se que estuvo sorprendente.
The way he jumped to reach the ceiling was hilarious hahahaha
I love these shorts. Brilliant. Made me laugh out loud. Where do you get all those fabulous costumes.
He's so creative 😂😂
I learned in my art history class that he HATED painting the chapel ceiling. Would often complain about paint splattering in his face
Fun fact, originally Raphael, another famous painter at the time was suppost to paint the Sistine Chapel but, he gave the job to Michelangelo to prove he was just a sculptor and not a painter, sufficient to say Michelangelo got the last laugh.
When you realize you've bitten off more than you can chew. 😂 And....jump!
It's a great work of art, but, if you see it in person, you might be underwhelmed. It's not at the top of a cathedral. It's essentially a conference room.
These are the kind of stuff that both geniuses and dumbbells can get . 👏👏
You're a genius of awkward situations I laughed so hard!!
It’s funny that he turns real life and history things into comedies
I absolutely ADORE this kid. His voice, mannerisms and sense of humor slay me.
Adrian you're absolutely adorable and your videos are so creative!
I absolutely LOVE the Michelangelo costume, super funny video as always
The ending lmao it did it for me
Lol this is funny 🤣✨ But based on history he has his own custom platform board (like from the construction in these modern days) so he could paint the church's ceiling while laying on his back
Hahaha hilarious. I knew from the start he was thinking how am I going to get up there
In art history my teacher tought me that he had an entire staff to assist him with this painting....he fired all of them, pretty quickly to. And a single letter he wrote with a quick scetch of himself painting is paparently one of the reason we assume he stood of a platform/ladder to paint.
I dont want to knwo what kind of back problems he got from that.
It’s sort of sad that Michelangelo got 100% of the credit for the art on the Sistine chapel’s ceiling. It’s not like he painted it all his self… He had assistant, that did a lot of it.
I feel like this was his first reaction XD but he did his job and didn't disappoint.
Sometimes I don't even understand the context of his stories but I still watch coz he is such a fine actor!
Imagine if this is how the next generation learns about history😂
I bet the costume stores love you for giving them so much business
But they, nearly all, look homemade. Part of the charm.
I think he owns one
The way you look into the camera is funny every time
Your cosplay wardrobe is AMAZING!!! Thanks for making me laugh💕
GENIE: I'll grant you one wish only. Anything you want, no exceptions!
ME: *Tell me where Adrian gets all his costume!*
My favorite thing about Michelangelo is that while he was painting the chapel he asked that no one interrupt him or see the chapel yet and one guy didn’t listen. It wasn’t finished and called it satanic and crap and stuff so Michelangelo painted that guy’s face as Lucifer. Artist’s revenge at its finest
That jump had me on the floor 🤣
When they ask you to do something in ur new job that's been written on ur resume but u never did 😂
your videos never cease to crack me up😭
Pure gold, love the ending
In all seriousness Michelangelo did an amazing job for a sculptor
